“Every tree has its suitable fruit and has the set season.
While the season lasts, all of them are fresh and bloom flowers,
but they dry up and wither as time goes by.

However, a cypress doesn’t fall into any of the conditions and constantly remains flourishing.
Freemen, in other words, religious independent are people with such characteristics.
Don’t be fascinated with temporary things. Be free as a cypress.”

No matter what kind of worldly or spiritual matters they are, they are just temporary.
No matter what experience or satisfaction it is, it disappears as time goes by.
That is to say, everything within the field of time disappears.

Everything in this world has the beginning and the ending.
No matter how pleasant experience it is, or no matter how delightful memory it is,
things with the beginning has the ending.
Whether it is the brilliant past or experience, everything within the field of time decays.

It is the same with not only worldly matters but also religious or spiritual matters.
You may experience something spiritual or recognize God,
but things once experienced and recognized are already the old past.
You may want to enjoy it many times,
but it is only a desire to repeat old experiences again and again.

Where there is the repetition of experiences like this, there is nothing new,
because things already experienced are just the past memories.
You simply want to dig them up and enjoy them again.
The new is not found in memories or repetitions.
Impulse to repeat something is just a pursuit for satisfaction and pleasure.

Things which never die or grow old are beyond the past.
It remains new each moment and living at present.
It is the ‘life at present’ without any past memories, and the activity of life each moment.

Things emerging each moment are always new.
It is neither the past nor the future, but it is ‘a moment at present’ beyond thought or movements of mind.
This each moment is the new creation of life.

Only the spirit living with this moment is free,
and such spirit doesn’t belong to the field of time and doesn’t know to grow old.
It is because things which remain at this moment are always new.
