When you are facing the mysterious vast universe or the mystery of life,
some holly feelings well up in mind.
This is pure delight, holly joy.
It is not worldly amusement, leisure or impure pleasure.
Worldly joy is merely pleasure.
You may give yourself up to sex or pleasures of the table,
they are anything but holly, because they are animal behavior.
Worldly achievement, for example, succeeding at a job or gaining glory.
Acquiring enormous wealth or realizing a luxurious life.
These are not holly, either,
because they are based on possessiveness and desires.
It is the same is with things generated from human relationship.
You may get transient pleasure or enthusiasm
from your friends, lovers or collective affairs.
However, they are not holly.
Holly feelings arise only when you are alone.
When you face the mystery of the universe completely alone
and the mystery of the great nature or sparkles of life,
only when your spirit is in such solitary state, holly joy comes.
Collective things are merely enthusiasm, not holly joy.
Holly joy has nothing to do with cultural or social affairs.
It arises from an individual person
and comes to a person who has free mind that doesn’t cling to anything.
The universe has existed before humans were born.
To transcend every culture, society or ideology made up by humans,
and to stand on the dimension of the primordial universe itself,
you must break away from everything and transcend it.
