Human mind has fear for future.
Anxiety, vague fear and frustration for the future, aftertime —
Why do we have fear for the future?

It is because we are afraid of losing our present reality.
We live with ‘self’ all the time.
Our own fortune, experiences, possessions of mind, happiness, status —

We are afraid of losing our possessions of mind that we have at present,
whether they are material possessions or spiritual possessions.
They fill and satisfy your mind.
That means you love your satisfaction and happiness, and cling to them.
And you are afraid of losing your own satisfaction and happiness.

Your mind is afraid that the delight, satisfaction, happiness or experience you have now, the objects that give you such things, and all of these would be lost and broken.
Fear and anxiety that come from the self-obsession is fear for the future.

You are afraid of losing everything and having nothing in the future.
You are afraid of being empty and nameless.
You are afraid of losing your delightful experiences, satisfaction and happiness.
Then, struggle of mind, trying not to lose them, arises as fear and anxiety.

Having nothing in the future, being nothing —
it may surely be fearful and unbearable.
However, as long as you are obsessed with your own experiences, satisfaction and happiness,
your fear for future, anxiety, conflict and struggle of mind never end.

True freedom of mind is
to accept yourself who is empty with nothing, and not to fear nothingness.
You would realize some day
that ‘having nothing’ is exactly the absolute freedom.
