“Desire to try to find out what truth is, or what God is, is the only true desire.
All other desires are derivative.
When you throw a stone into the river, a wave ring is made and it expands.
The expanding ring is derivative movement and social reaction.
However, the real movement is in its center, and that is the movement to find out happiness, God and truth.
And, as long as you are lost in fear or threat, you can’t find it out.
At the moment when threat or fear comes, culture declines.”
True desires of humans,
true desires that never pursue only pleasure or self-contentment,
that is the desire to try to find out truth.
What is life? What is to live? What is the universe? What is truth?
Such questions are fundamental desires which we humans essentially have.
What is to live? What are humans? What is the truth of the universe? —
If there is no such questions or activities to try to find out,
what is life at all?
What does living as a human mean?
Is it life
to belong to a culture or a society, and commit yourself to things they give?
Is it life only to spend life on pleasure and amusement?
Wherever we live,
we have similar inner problems.
In other words, we have problems common to all humankind — such as fear, anxiety, sorrow, conflict, desperation.
No matter which society or culture we live in, inner problems are universal.
Then, isn’t it exactly the true desire to try to understand problems that humans essentially have,
to pursue questions like what humans are, what living is or what a life is,
and to try to find out the truth of life?
Those who continue such pursuit are truly religious.
Only truly religious people discover and create a life anew,
and their discovery and creation change the society and consciousness of humankind,
and bring great changes to life and the universe itself.
