The Words of Meister Eckhart, a German Mystic — Part 8
“If human soul becomes free from every obstacle,
in other words, if it becomes entirely free from selfhood (ego) and ignorance,
the soul transcends all God has created and penetrates everything, shines beautifully and casts a pure and transparent light.
When the soul enters the pure and innocent light, it is supported by God and becomes God Himself.”
The biggest obstacle for humans is exactly this ego.
Ego is the source of human suffering, chaos and conflict.
If there is a hell, it is not the place where we go after death,
but a hell is the state of continuously being reproved by ego while living.
Human ugliness, foolishness, evil — all of these stem from ego.
And ignorance is not to have realized one’s own ego or not to be aware of it.
People who commit a crime don’t realize their own ego.
Anger, quarrels, jealousy, hostile, violence, worries, fear, anxiety —
The source of all of them is ego, and where there is ego, there is no purity of heart nor beauty.
There are only small-mindedness, intolerance, immaturity or foolishness.
When ego becomes totally empty, then people
“penetrate everything, shine beautifully and cast a pure and transparent light” as Eckhart says.
It can be said that such people are truly pure and innocent, and the sacred heart dwells in them.
And soul of such beautiful people is said to
“enter the pure and innocent light, be supported by God and become God Himself.”
True humans who can feel the mystery of the holy universe and the divinity are
persons who are pure and innocent and have the beautiful empty heart without ego.
