The Words of J. Krishnamurti, a Revolutionist of Life — Part 27
“Death is not inevitable for any human,
and nobody can escape from it.
Death always lies in front of us.
It may come to us tomorrow or be waiting for us just around the corner.
Or it may come many years away, but it is always next to us.
Each of us must confront this grim reality of life.”
The reality of death is an extremely significant event for us.
It is too significant to feel it to be real.
We are afraid of this bottomless darkness of death.
Death is unmistakably grim reality,
and it comes to everyone in the course of time.
However, we wouldn’t face the reality of death.
Death is fearful, so we try to turn our eyes away from it.
Whether it is consciously or unconsciously, we are afraid of death.
Then, can we live without fearing death?
As long as we look away from death, there would be fear for death.
Looking away from death is exactly fear for death.
We are afraid of being hit by this reality of “death”.
However, it is the undeniable reality,
and nobody can escape from the fate of death.
What we can do is to accept it.
Instead of turning our eyes away from it, we should rather confront it.
Feel the reality of death as something close everyday.
Have death take root more in daily life.
Then and only then, we would live with the reality of death,
and learn how to live without fearing death.
When we accept the reality of death squarely,
we can put an end to our fear of death.
